A rollback is when operations over a certain period of time are cancelled on one or more database servers. It is carried out with one or several precise operations, according to how data is saved on the server. A rollback is never carried out on a single account or character.
In an MMO, a rollback involves the cancellation of one or several types of operation carried out with a character - XP gain, drop or purchase of items or Kamas, the allocation of capital points etc.
Rollbacks are exceptional events which are only carried out in the case of severe problems.
