For those most in need of protection… Shield activated!

Ankama has identified a number of DOFUS accounts whose security settings have been deemed insufficient. In order to prevent possible attacks, these accounts are now protected by the new DOFUS account security system. Ankama Shield has been activated on certain accounts for their own security.

How will I recognise a moderator?

DOFUS moderators have a particular appearance (skin) in game – they are represented by a lion with a loin cloth and shoulder pads.

When moderators speak in game, it is either with an ordinary message, with a red-coloured message or a private message to one or several players.

A moderator will never ask for your password, your secret answer or your email address. In fact, they will never ask for ANY information about your account!!!

Beware of fake moderators!

Unfortunately, some unscrupulous players sometimes try to pass for moderators in order to steal items or accounts.

If you’re the least bit unsure of the identity of a person contacting you, here’s what you need to ask for to find out whether they are in fact who they say they are:

- ask them to send you a RED message – only moderators, administrators and game masters can send this type of message

- type /whois *nickname_of_person_who’s_talking in the DOFUS chat zone. The response to this command should indicate ‘Mod’ in red.

Example – the command /whois *[MOD]XX returns CharXX (Mod: [MOD]XX) is in Astrub or Mod is written in red.

Beware: if the person cannot send you a red message and if the response in the chat window does not indicate ‘MOD’, you are most definitely talking to an account thief! Stop talking to this player immediately and do not give them any information about your account.
