The only way for someone to steal your account is to know your login and associated password.
Here's what probably happened:
- You gave your information to someone close to you(friends, family, etc.) or one of them found your password (if you wrote it down, for example).
- You shared/purchased/exchanged the account with someone else (which is against our terms and conditions) and this other person took advantage of you.
- You have been the victim of phishing. You went to a site resembling an official Ankama site. They asked you to identify yourself, which you did in good faith, thinking the site was secure. In reality, the login and password you entered were recovered by the page's dishonest creator.
- Or, even more rarely, you may have been the victim of a hack, a keylogger, or a brute force attack. This is hardly ever the case.
In the vast majority of cases, the victim has made the mistake of knowingly or unknowingly giving out their information.
We'd like to remind you that Ankama offers two free protection systems to prevent the theft of your account even if the thief knows your login. These systems are called Ankama Authenticator and Ankama Shield.
